EPOCAST 36®
CHEMICAL OF THE FUTURE
EPOCAST 36® is a two-component pourable chocking compound
enriched with high-grade fillers. Modern manufacturing methods, filling and
testing systems guarantee constant compliance with the physical and chemical
properties required for EPOCAST 36® by Classification Societies and
other institutions.
|
|
EPOCAST 36® offers the following advantages:
- Simple use
- No machining of the foundation
- Compensates any distortions of the foundations
- Can form large thick chocks up to 100 mm in one
homogeneous pour depending on the temparature
- High compressive and impact strenght
- Seawater and chemical resistant
- Reduces noise and vibrations
- Viscosity can be adjusted according to ambient temparatures
- Weight saving
- Prevents crevice corrosion
- Relatively uniform loading over the chock surface
|
|
Design features
EPOCAST 36® chocks offer a practicable solution
wherever the following design features* have to be
catered for:
- Total deadweight loading from weight of installation =< 0,7 n/mm
- Total static loading from weight of installation plus holding-down bolt tension =< 5,0 n/mm
- Chock thickness must be less than width of chock
* Except in special applications
|
For preparing quotations and/or installation documentation ...
... we need the following information:
|
- Project number / name of vessel
- Place of execution
- Date of execution
- Type of machinery
- Weight of machinery
- Thickness of top plate
- Chock thickness
- Number, type and dimensions of foundation bolts and thread
- Bolt material
- Thickness of bedplate
- Number and position of front and side stoppers
- Classification Society
- For gearbox installation, information on
- Propellerthrust (kN)
- Height (mm) of propeller shaft thrust input

|
EPOCAST 36® Type approvals
EPOCAST 36® is approved by all major
Classification Societies up to a maximum total load on the chocks of 5
N/mm² at a service temparature of 80°C. For special shipbuild
applications EPOCAST 36®
has withstood a shock test of 75g with a total
load of 3,5 N/mm².
